Our students meet the Colombian Ambassador
We were delighted that a group of Red Tree Study students met with the Colombian Ambassador to the UK, Néstor Osorio Londoño, yesterday. The event took place at the at the Colombian Embassy in London, and provided the group with a fantastic opportunity to discuss the upcoming presidential elections, and recent developments in the peace process. The group was given information about progress in the construction of peace in Colombia, including the demobilization and disarmament process, the early reintegration phase which is currently being implemented, and government investment in local and regional public services.
It was attended by students from our 2016 and 2017 Peacebuilding in Colombia course, as well as by several students who will be travelling to Colombia for the first time in just a couple of weeks, to join this year’s Peacebuilding course, and our new Public Health in Colombia course. The group had travelled from their universities as far afield as Cardiff, Leicester and Bristol to meet the Ambassador, and we also welcomed some local attendees from the LSE and Imperial College London.
It was great to see some friends from old courses and to meet the new students who’ll be travelling to Colombia with us this summer as well!
